This private collection was set up in 1974 in the cellars of the Pallavicino-Casali Castle. The museum focuses on ethnographic documentation related to the river environment, also thanks to its aquarium containing the fish species of the mid Po. The display allows the visitor to observe living local species of fish, documented by specific charts bearing the scientific data related to their distribution and to the environment. There are also two dioramas with animal specimens: reptiles, mammals and birds. The museum also has several exhibits illustrating the traditional activities carried out along the Po: boats used for different purposes, tools used by fishermen and gravel quarriers, nets, harpoons and iconographic material, all illustrating life along the banks of the river Po. The centrepiece of this section is an extremely well preserved prehistoric pirogue. Many exhibits of the paleontological and archaeological section are connected to the river, among these there are fragments of plants and bones belonging to vertebrates and invertebrates of the Cenozoic and Neozoic periods, found in the mid section of the watercourse. This section includes remains of mammoths, horns of bison, deer and elks dating back to fifteen-twenty thousand years ago, Roman period remains, pottery fragments; more recent items such as an artesian well found along the Po dating back to the 18th century, when a vast area on the banks of the river was swept away and destroyed by a flood. The third section focuses on rural civilisation and traditional handcrafts, with items related to agricultural work, ploughs, harrows, rollers, scythes and other equipment, carts and wheelbarrows; the different trades (the knife-grinder, the broom maker, the cooper, the blacksmith, the farrier, the pork-butcher, the weaver) are also represented by a large collection of tools no longer in use nowadays along with a vast array of household items of a bygone era: from the complete equipment for making bread, pasta, polenta, to an ancient example of ice box, to fireplace tools and winemaking equipment for pressing grapes and making wine and other items used by housewives. La raccolta privata è allestita dal 1974 nelle cantine della Rocca Pallavicino-Casali. Il museo esplica una funzione di documentazione e conoscenza etnografica riferita soprattutto all'ambiente fluviale, cui si collega l'acquario destinato ad illustrare la fauna ittica del medio Po. L'allestimento permette di osservare dal vivo le specie locali, documentate da apposite schede con i dati scientifici relativi alla diffusione e all'ambiente. Nel percorso espositivo sono inseriti anche due diorami con esemplari faunistici: rettili, mammiferi e uccelli. Il museo raccoglie inoltre le testimonianze delle attività tradizionali praticate lungo il Po: imbarcazioni impiegate per i diversi mestieri, attrezzi dei pescatori e dei cavatori di ghiaia, reti, fiocine e materiale iconografico, testimonianza della vita rivierasca padana. Gioiello di questa sezione è una piroga preistorica in ottimo stato di conservazione. Rimandano al fiume molti reperti della sezione paleontologica e archeologica, fra i quali si distinguono frammenti di vegetali e resti ossei di vertebrati e invertebrati del Cenozoico e del Neozoico, rinvenuti nel tratto medio del corso fluviale. Sono qui conservati resti di mammut, corna di bisonte, di cervo, di alce, che risalgono a quindici-ventimila anni fa, reperti dell'epoca romana, resti di vasellame; manufatti più recenti come un pozzo artesiano individuato lungo il Po risalente al XVIII secolo, quando una vasta area costiera fu travolta e distrutta da una delle tante piene del fiume. Il terzo nucleo tematico, dedicato alla civiltà contadina ed all'artigianato tradizionale, propone materiali sul lavoro nei campi, aratri, erpici, rulli, falci e loro corredi, carri e carriole; sui mestieri (l'arrotino, il fabbricante di scope, il bottaio, il maniscalco, il norcino, la filatrice) sono raccolti numerosi utensili ormai non più usati da tempo e una vasta rassegna di oggetti di uso comune nelle case di una volta: dall'attrezzatura completa per fare il pane, la pasta, la polenta, ad un antico esemplare di ghiacciaia, agli attrezzi da camino e da cantina, per la pigiatura dell'uva e la produzione del vino, al materiale usato dalle massaie.
