dc:description
The permanent exhibition, housed on the ground floor of the Medieval tower, originated in the late 1970s after field surveys and findings on the part of the Archaeological Superintendence in the Panaro area. The material collected exhaustively documents local human settlement from pre-history to the 4th century BC. The museum traces the evolution of territorial organization and the characteristics of the various peoples who settled the area, from pre-history to Roman-era land use policies. Along with two Roman wells, one of which was partly reconstructed, the museum also features Eneolotich burials with their grave goods (terracotta jugs and conical vases, blades fashioned out of flint, copper, and bone), which are some of the most important artefacts from the so-called “Spilamberto Group”, a typical cultural aspect of the Copper Age.
