The Palazzo, which until 1782 hosted the Franciscan convent, was enlarged in the 12th century, restructured in the 15th century and renewed once again in the 17th century by the architect Giovan Maria Ferraroni (1662-1775). The three-story building wraps around a central cloister. After the Napoleonic suppressions, it was used for several different purposes: barracks, school building, and since 1830, as a museum.
Il Palazzo, che ha ospitato fino al 1782 il convento francescano, è stato ampliato nel XIII secolo, ristrutturato nel XV e nuovamente rimodernato nel XVIII secolo ad opera dell'architetto Giovan Maria Ferraroni (1662-1775). L'edificio si sviluppa su tre piani attorno ad un chiostro centrale. In seguito alle soppressioni napoleoniche è stato adibito ad usi diversi: caserma, sede di istituti scolastici e, dal 1830, museo.
