Museo Nazionale del Motociclo - Rimini

http://dati.emilia-romagna.it/id/ibc/IT-ER-RN012 entità di tipo: Museum

Inaugurated at the end of 1994 by three enthusiasts, G. Corvatta, G. Savorelli and A. Zaghini, who put together their own collections in a single display area, since 2005 the museum has occupied a new and larger home, just outside Rimini, where it illustrates the evolution of the motorcycle from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day, with an exhibition of 250 vehicles built between the end of the 19th century and the Eighties, by more than 60 Italian and foreign manufacturers. The museum, which also acts as a centre of documentation, is equipped with a documentary, photographic and illustrative service. Unique in its kind, this gallery of motorcycle history was located originally at Cerasolo di Coriano, then arrived in Rimini in 1996 where it remained in Via Casalecchio until December 2003. The structure had become insufficient to hold all the collections, so a new arrangement had to be found. Just five kilometres from its previous location, the museum now consists of two buildings: a completely refurbished farmhouse and a structure with a more modern and functional design. As well as offering a panorama of two-wheel vehicles, gathered in four large rooms, in chronological order by thematic areas, the museum aims to be a point of reference for Italian and foreign motorcyclists. Rooms have therefore been provided for meetings and for entertaining guests. With the same aim in mind, many ventures are organised, aimed at making known the history of the motorcycle and offering a boost for tourism and culture. The monthly market, held since 1994 in the area in front of the museum, is again being held regularly.
