Museo Capitolare della Basilica di Sant'Antonino - Piacenza

Piacenza Cathedral, on which building was started in the 12th century, has always been a destination of the many pilgrims on their way to Rome on the Via Francigena. In over a thousand years of history, the Chapter House of the Cathedral has gathered a considerable quantity of items. The collection includes a great variety of historical records from the Carolingian period to the present day: ancient manuscripts, among them the Master Book “Codex 65”, collections of ancient printed music and various Longobard parchments, silver and gold liturgical items, reliquaries, vestments, plates and jugs, paintings and sculptures from the Cathedral. Among these is a triptych by Serafino de' Serafini of the 13th century and a Saint Jerome by Guido Reni, works by De Longe and Procaccini, along with several stone items removed from the walls of the church. Worthy of notice is a banner, that can be dated to the 17th century, that was used during the Corpus Christi processions.
