Il museo propone un percorso espositivo, costituito da un suggestivo plastico e arricchito da documenti, mappe e fotografie, che traccia l'immagine della città di Finale sul finire dell'800 e le trasformazioni che nel tempo hanno mutato in modo significativo il suo aspetto urbano. Nel museo è ospitata anche una sezione dedicata alla cultura ebraica e una ricostruzione del seicentesco monastero di S. Chiara. L'assetto museale è dominato dall'imponente plastico dell'edificato del centro storico agli inizi dell'Ottocento, che evidenzia il Panaro della Lunga, il tratto del navile modenese che attraversando l'abitato formava la città d'acqua, documentata da alcuni reperti di imbarcazioni fluviali e dalle riprese fotografiche del centro storico eseguite nel XIX secolo da Giovan Battista Magni. Un nucleo interessante è formato da documenti sul Teatro Sociale, sulla Società Operaia e la Cooperativa Braccianti, insieme ad antiche carte del territorio; sono conservati inoltre oggetti liturgici della scomparsa comunità ebraica, documenti sul ghetto, sulla sinagoga e sul cimitero, da cui provengono reperti, quali la lapide del rabbino Salomone Levi e un lavello seicentesco in marmo rosso.
The museum’s displays, using an evocative plastic relief map along with documents, maps, and photographs, trace the history of the town of Finale in the late 19th centuries and the transformations that significantly changed its aspect over time. The museum includes a section on Jewish history and a replica of the 17th century Santa Chiara monastery. The museum is dominated by the imposing plastic relief map of the town centre as it appeared in the early 19th century. It highlights the Panaro della Lunga, a canal that ran through the city, documented by several findings of riverboats and by Giovan Battista Magni’s 19th century photographs of the historic town centre. There is an interesting collection of documents on the Social Theatre, the Workers’ Society, and the Sharecroppers’ Cooperative, along with ancient maps of the local territory. The museum also holds liturgical documents from the Jewish community that once lived in Finale, along with documents on the Jewish ghetto, synagogue, and cemetery, from whence come several items, such as the gravestone of Rabbi Salomone Levi and a 17th century red marble sink.
